Two More Movies
Pillow Book - Set in Japan and Hong Kong, this is an unusual and sensual movie. I'm interested in collage so I enjoyed seeing the way the director incorporated smaller frames into the main one, showing action at various points in the story simultaneously. It's a bit slow-moving but it's beautiful. Plus, Ewan McGregor and Vivian Wu spend a lot of time naked. And I mean totally nude.
Shopgirl - Technically this isn't a movie about art, it's just something I'd been wanting to see. Turns out Claire Danes' character is an artist, so that all worked out. The movie was a bit flat for me. That might have been because I watched it while I was sick. It just never seemed to take off.
I think I've watched all the artsy ones. I'm still trying to decide whether to finish Morvern Callar. I figure it has to get interesting at some point...right? I'm still having fun with this theme so I may look into more movies about artists and writers. A couple of people, including
junquegrrl, suggested Camille Claudel.
(Edited because the movie was Pillow Book, not Pillow Talk.)
